It is amazing how the spring classics in Belgium & the Netherlands have lots of road furniture, but the riders don’t have as many problems with them. It must be the initial gran tour nerves; I’d hate to think the gran tour riders are just that bad at handling them.

Milan last year didn’t seem any worse than the stages of De Panne.

Hi! Here a note from Holland: come on, we even have a Tour of Holland for years. OK, traffic island are seen more and more, but with proper attendants this should not be a problem if the organization just uses only 1 lane.

It also felt to me like an affront to the great sacrifices the athletes have to make to get there. They were treated a bit like a circus act. I felt terrible every time the camera would zoom into a bunch of cyclist in obvious pain trying to get up and carry on. This is bike racing for god’s sake. All the suffering is supposed to take place on the saddle!

Totally agree. Great way to screw up a three week event in three days for a lot of the riders.
Hopefully Italy and the mountains will lead to some proper racing.
